Photo Tour In La Paz And The Uyuni Salt Flats

Day 1-Welcome to Bolivia!

Overnight stay: La Paz (Bolivia)

 

Welcome to Bolivia! A representative will greet you at El Alto International Airport (LPB) in La Paz and transfer you to your hotel. Once you check-in and get settled at the hotel, you will have time to take a rest. Its is important take it easy today for acclimatizaton.

Day 2-La Paz

Overnight stay: La Paz (Bolivia)

 

Day at leisure in La Paz.
At noon, your guide will pick you up and take you to Ancestral for lunch, considered one of the best restaurants in Latin America, according to the "50 Best" List.

Day 3-City tour in La Paz

Overnight stay: La Paz (Bolivia)

 

Today we will have a city tour visiting the witches’ market, some of La Paz’s open markets and some of the colonial streets of the city. We will have lunch in a local restaurant and we will take the cable car to the southern neighborhoods of La Paz. We will be able to see the sunset from a close viewpoint to the hotel.

Day 4-La Paz / Uyuni Salt Flats

Overnight stay: Colchani (Bolivia)

 

Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the airport to take a flight to Uyuni. Today we depart for our first foray on to the Uyuni Salt Flats. We'll be picked up from the hotel and the journey begins with a short visit to the famed (and rusting) train cemetery, full of rusting train cars that were once used to transport minerals and people to and from Uyuni. We then continue to the salt-harvesting village of Colchani to see how the locals produce salt. After this (finally!) we will reach the great Uyuni Salt Flats, visiting the bizarre Incahuasi Island that is covered in enormous cacti and from where we get an amazing view of the flats. We will enjoy a beautiful sunset in the middle of the endless expanse of glittering salt and then return to Colchani to overnight in a hotel built from salt bricks!

Note: During the rainy season (November-March) it may not be possible to cross the salt flats to Incahuasi Island. If this is the case, the tour will stay to the edges of the salt flats.

 

Day 5-Uyuni Salt Flats

Overnight stay: Colchani (Bolivia)

 

Around 05:00am Pick-up from the hotel. We will enter to the salt flats (to the shores) to take pictures during the sunrise. Return to the hotel to have breakfast. Later, pick up and trip to the community of Coquesa and hike up and along the base of the Thunupa volcano, with its fields of quinoa and mixed herds of llamas and alpacas and spectacular views toward the cone on one wide and toward the flats on the other. You’ll walk as much as time, interest and ability permit and will be able to visit a chamber containing ancient mummies. From various viewpoints, we will be able to appreciate the strong colors of the landscape and the immense whiteness of the flats. We will enjoy a special lunch in the middle of the salt flats and have more time in the flats to take pictures. Return to the hotel to take a rest.

Day 6-Colchani / Ojo de Perdiz

Overnight stay: Ojo de Perdiz (Salar Lipez, Bolivia)

 

Today our adventure continues through the lunar landscapes of the southern altiplano at Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. As the country's most visited protected area, the reserve boasts volcanos, deserts, colorful lagoons, and unique Andean wildlife, such as flamingos. Enjoy lunch next to one of the region’s multi-colored lagoons. Then, we will continue to Siloli Desert, where we will witness the wonder of great rock formations thanks to the wind erosion over the years. The tour will finish with a visit to the red-colored Laguna Colorada before heading to your accommodation for a well-earned rest.

Day 7-Ojo de Perdiz / Villamar

Overnight stay: Villamar (Bolivia)

 

Today we continue on to the most southern part of Lípez and Eduardo Avaroa National Park, created to help conserve the region’s flora and fauna. Among other stops, we’ll be able to enjoy geysers Sol de mañana, located at almost 5.000 meters above sea level. Then, we will continue to the thermal waters of Polques and, if you dare, enjoy a soak. We will also visit the Green Lagoon with Licancabur Volcano as a backdrop and we will continue to the small village of Villamar to take a rest.

Day 8-Villamar / Vinto lagoon / Colchani

Overnight stay: Uyuni (Bolivia)

 

Today we will continue through the lunar landscapes of the southern altiplano. We will depart early in the morning to the rock valley, where we will be able to see local fauna such as vizcachas. We will visit Vinto lagoon and then take road back to Uyuni town. Lunch will be served near the Alota valley.

Day 9-Uyuni / La Paz / Souls Valley

Overnight stay: La Paz (Bolivia)

 

Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the airport to take the flight back to La Paz. Upon arrival, we will travel by car to the Animas Valley, into one of the more bizarre landscapes of La Paz. Valle de las Animas or in English “Valley of souls” is called this way due to the geological formations shaped like spires and needles grouped by hundreds in bunch and rows that reach to great heights that resemble petrified souls. We will hike among these enormous sand castle-like rocks and will be able to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

Day 10-Transfer out

 

At designed time, transfer to the airport to take the flight back home.
