Highlights of Bolivia

Day 1. Welcome to Santa Cruz!
At designed time, pick-up from the airport and transfer to your hotel to take a good rest. In the afternoon, you will have a short city tour visiting the historical center of this beautiful and warm city.

Day 2. Samaipata ruins
Departure from Santa Cruz to Samaipata (120 km – 3 hours), a trip with a view of great sub-Andean beauty, arriving to "El Fuerte" Ruins, the largest example of pre-hispanic rock architecture in South America, declared a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO. In Samaipata town we will have lunch and have a stroll through the town. Return to Santa Cruz with a stop at “Las Cuevas” waterfalls.

Day 3. Santa Cruz / Sucre
Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the airport to take the flight to Sucre. Today, we will discover this beautiful and colonial city, including the main museums, Casa de la Libertad (closed on Mondays) and the main buildings and attractions of the city.

Day 4. Tarabuco
Departure from Sucre to Tarabuco (2 hours). Visit the famous Indian Market (only Sundays) in Tarabuco, where we will be able to appreciate how the locals exchange food, agricultural products and clothing. Lunch in a local restaurant and return to Sucre.

Day 5. Sucre / Potosí / Uyuni
Early in the morning, we will departure by private transport to Potosi (3 hours). We will visit the Casa de la Moneda (Mint house, closed on Mondays) and have a walking city tour to see the facades of the main churches, convents and also local markets. We will enjoy a typical lunch, followed by a visit to the Cerro Rico and mines. Following the mine tour, we will continue our trip by private car to Uyuni (4 hours).

Day 6. Uyuni / Villamar
Today we will first visit the Train cemetery (very old locomotives since the Carbon era), full of rusting train cars that were once used to transport minerals and people to and from Uyuni. Then, we will travel to the south through the Alota valley and visit Katal lagoon. We will continue to visit a small valley with amazing rock formations that look like a small lost city and finally arrive to Villamar.

Day 7. Villamar / Eduardo Abaroa Reserve / Colchani
After breakfast, we will continue on to the most southern part of Lípez and Eduardo Avaroa National Park, created to help conserve the region’s flora and fauna. Among other stops, we’ll be able to enjoy geysers and thermal waters and, if you dare, enjoy a soak. From there, we travel through the (surreal!) Dali Desert and visit the Green Lagoon with Licancabur Volcano as a backdrop. Trip back to the north, visiting the great Red lagoon on our way.

Day 8. Uyuni Salt Flats
Today we will finally visit the Uyuni Salt Flats. First, we will visit the town of Colchani, where we will see the manual processing of salt, handicrafts and salt museum. Then, we will enter the Uyuni salt flats (12,000 km2), visiting the Incahuasi Island with its giant cacti and from where we can get an amazing view of the flats. We’ll enjoy a beautiful sunset (and a delicious snack!) in the middle of the endless expanse of glittering salt and return to our salt hotel.

Note: During the rainy season (November-March) it may not be possible to cross the salt flats to Incahuasi Island. If this is the case, the tour will stay to the edges of the salt flats.
Day 9. Uyuni / La Paz
Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the airport to take our flight to La Paz. We will visit the central neighborhood, explore the Witches' Market, with its medicinal herbs and spices, as well as spiritual and superstitious artifacts. We will have lunch in a local restaurant and continue by cable car to the southern part of the city, while we enjoy the beautiful landscapes of La Paz.

Day 10. La Paz / Tiwanaku / Copacabana
Today we will visit the Tiwanaku Archeological site. Here, we will explore the cultures main temples, some of them still under excavation, including the Pyramid of Akapana and Kalasasaya and the inspiring Gateways to the Sun and Moon. After lunch, we’ll continue to Copacabana, located on the shores of Titicaca Lake.

Day 11. Copacabana / Sun Island
We will depart from Copacabana by private ferry, en route to the Sun Island. We’ll make a short stop on the Moon Island to visit its ruins and learn more about the aymara culture that once lived on this mystical place. Continue to the Sun Island, where we'll have a typical lunch with an amazing view of the Titicaca Lake and the Royal Range. Enjoy a beautiful sunset!

Day 12. Sun Island / Copacabana / La Paz
To reach the pier where our private ferry will be waiting, we’ll descend the magnificent Inca Stairway and Fountains. The ferry will take us to Copacabana where we'll have lunch before continuing on to La Paz. Free evening.

Day 13. Transfer out
Thank you for visiting Bolivia! Today your journey comes to an end and at arranged time we transfer you from the hotel to the airport.
