Day 1 - Arrival in Lima

Pick-up from the airport and transfer to the hotel. Day at leisure.

Day 2 - City tour in Lima

Discover this beautiful city in a 3-hour visit to the modern and colonial side of Lima. The tour includes the main square, the cathedral and the San Francisco convent.

Day 3: Lima – Urubamba

Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the airport. Flight from Lima to Cusco. Tour to the Sacred Valley, where we’ll visit the Pisac ruins and local market.

Day 4: Urubamba - Machu Picchu - Urubamba

Hrs. 10:30: Train from Urubamba to Aguas Calientes (lunch on board). Private visit of Machu Picchu, an Inca city surrounded by temples, platforms and water channels, built on top of a mountain. It was built with large blocks of stone joined together. At hrs. 19:30, we will take the train back to Urubamba.

Day 5: Urubamba - Cusco

Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to Cusco. Today we will enjoy a 4-hour tour in this beautiful city. We will visit the Qoricancha museum, the amazing Cathedral and main square, and the Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman.

Day 6: Cusco – Puno

Pick-up at hrs. 06:20. We will travel by bus from Cusco to Puno. On the way, we will be able to visit the Andahuaylillas church, the archeological complex of Rachi and the museum of Pucará. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel, with a great view of the Titicaca Lake.

Day 7: Uros floating islands – Copacabana - Sun Island

Hrs. 06:00: Early in the morning, we will visit the Uros islands. These floating islands are inhabited by Uro-Aymara families, who build and roof their houses with totora mats. These families live from artisanal fishing, making handicrafts in totora and looms. After this visit, we will be transferred by car to the border with Bolivia (3 hours), where our Bolivian guide will be waiting to take us to Copacabana. Then, we will take a private ferry to visit the Sun Island (1 1/2 hrs.). It is considered a sacred place, since here is where the Inca empire began. We will visit the ruins of Pilkokaina Inca temple and enjoy an Andean typical lunch with an amazing view of the Royal range and the lake. Then, we will hike up to our hotel (about 45 min.).

Day 8: Sun Island - Copacabana - La Paz

Hrs. 10:00: We will take a private ferry back to Copacabana (1 1/2 hrs.) and visit its local church with its dark virgin. After lunch, we will travel by private transportation to La Paz.

Day 9: City tour in La Paz

Today we will explore the central neighborhood in La Paz city. We pass through to witches' market, the San Francisco cathedral, the main square (Plaza Murillo) and the historical center of La Paz. Later, we continue to the southern neighborhoods to visit the Moon Valley, a fascinating geological anomaly called like this because of its bizarre, moon-like landscape. Then we will get on the cable car and see the fascinating landscapes of La Paz city.

Day 10: La Paz / Uyuni Salt Flats

Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the airport to take the flight from La Paz to Uyuni. This morning we depart for our first foray on to the Uyuni Salt Flats. We'll be picked up from the airport and the journey begins with a short visit to the famed (and rusting) train cemetery, full of rusting train cars that were once used to transport minerals and people to and from Uyuni. We then continue to the salt-harvesting village of Colchani to see how the locals produce salt. After this (finally!) we will reach the great Uyuni Salt Flats, visiting the bizarre Incahuasi Island that is covered in enormous cacti and from where we get an amazing view of the flats. We will enjoy a beautiful sunset (gourmet picnic!) in the middle of the endless expanse of glittering salt and then return to Colchani to overnight in a hotel built from salt bricks!

Day 11: Eduardo Avaroa Andean Flora and Fauna Reserve

After breakfast, we´ll continue our highland safari through the lunar landscapes of the southern altiplano. We head south today and experience completely different landscapes of volcanos, highland deserts and colorful lagoons. We will also be able to enjoy unique Andean wildlife such as flamingos, vicuñas, viscachas and with a little luck the Andean Fox and Ostrich. We´ll have lunch beside one of the region’s many colored lagoons before continuing on though Siloli Desert to the famous Stone Tree, formed by years of wind erosion. After visiting the Red Lagoon, we´ll continue to our comfortable and warm hotel, to enjoy a hot shower and warm dinner.

Day 12: Laguna Verde and Licancabur Volcano - San Pedro de Atacama

Rise and shine! Today we get an early start so we can reach all the spectacular sites of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Flora and Fauna Reserve. We'll visit the Stone Tree, and the Sol de Mañana geysers at a breathy altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level. It is possible to take a bath in the hot springs so bring your trunks! After this, we will go to the Green Lagoon, at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano and with impressive water that changes colors as the sun passes overhead. From this point we will go towards the Chilean border and cross the border to San Pedro de Atacama.

The Atacama Desert is one of the planet's driest ecosystems and the landscapes found there are often compared to those of the moon and other planets. Today we take you to the Valley of the Moon, with its unique stone and sand formations carved by wind and water erosion displaying an impressive range of colors and textures. When the sun sinks, the wind blows among the rocks and the sky passes from pink color to purple and finally black as the star show begins. We also visit the Valley of Death, known for giant sand dunes that can be climbed, sandboarded and witnessed from rocky outcrops that surround the sandy expanse. Off in the distance one can observe volcanoes that reach six thousand meters above sea level!

Day 13: Tatio Geysers, Volcanos and the Village of Machuca

We leave the hotel early with our transport to the Geysers del Tatio geothermal field. We will arrive at the moment when the sun rises, when the geysers are more active and indicate the high volcanic activity in the area with steam smoke that reaches 30 meters high. While we watch this true nature show, a delicious breakfast will be enjoyed before visiting the village of Machuca, one of the most most remote communities in the region. It is populated by 20 small houses and a tiny church that takes us back in time.

Day 14: San Pedro de Atacama - Calama - Santiago

Pick-up from your hotel in San Pedro and transfer to Calama's airport. From here, you will take a flight to Santiago. Depending on the flight itinerary, you will have some time to explore the city.

Day 15: Santiago de Chile

Today a local guide will show you Santiago de Chile on a city tour. You can visit the city center including the cathedral, the government palace, the central market and its rich selection of fish and seafood. Afterwards, you will head up to the San Cristobal Hill, from where you will enjoy a great panorama of the city and the Andes Cordilleras in the background.

Day 16: Flight back home

Today it is already time of saying goodbye to South America. A designed time, transfer to the international airport to take your flight back home. Buen viaje y hasta pronto!!!
